Nicolás Levy Fachena and HR Bank at EUROBIKE SHOW 2024

Article from the LinkedIn personal profile of Nicolás Levy Fachena

As promised, a series of posts with my favorite innovations from EUROBIKE SHOW 2024 starts right now with something that really blew my mind.

Back in 2020, when I was working on my new website, I asked my designer Ziza to create a logo for me, to create the #cyclingtranslator. The brief was quite simple:

? Me sitting on a bicycle/trainer translating, generating power for my laptop by pedaling, and putting all my cycling knowledge and passion into my #translations. ?

You can see the result on left.

Fast forward 4 years, manning Cyclinguists®' booth at EUROBIKE, a fellow cyclinguist came back to relieve me of my duty telling me: “Go and see Tukas EV’s HR BANK, you’ll love it.”

I went and loved it ?. Check the picture on the right. My vision coming true. Can you spot the five differences? ?

Basically, it’s your own personal power plant ?. It has a 2000Wh battery you charge just by pedaling (or by a solar panel) and it can power your laptop, screens, phones, lights, fans, fridge… you name it. Kind of every #vanlifer's dream. Perfect for long-term caravan or RV #camping ⛺ or weekend houses without electricity.

? I love how it combines modularity, ergonomics and sustainability. I love how it can make you exercise while working. Seriously considering integrating it into my van ?. Great work, Aurelijus!!

And as my fellow #cyclinguist Nicolás wrote in his post (read it for more about HR BANK, link in the comments), its potential is endless, especially when you think about integrating the technology into cycling trainers. So many watts “wasted” while training, why not stockpiling them to power your household?

What do you say, #cyclingtrainer brands? Will we soon have self-powered cycling trainers? Challenge accepted? ?

Just imagine telling yourself: “OK, I need to train for an hour, so that means I will generate enough power to turn on my dishwasher.” And then earning the Dishwasher Badge on Garmin or Strava. ?

Already looking forward to seeing my future Strava notifications:

“Another activity down, Jiri. ? Great work. You generated 500 W, that would have been enough to power your washing machine for an hour.”
